Snoozer Quinn
Edward McIntosh Quinn was born in Pike County, Missisippi. In 1920, he played with his first band, the Claude Blanchard Orchestra in Bogalousa, Louisiana. He played in dance bands, Louisiana Rambles, Louis Armstrong, Dorsey Brothers, St. Louis Rythm Kings throughout the south-southwest during the 1920s-30s. Snoozer played at a time before guitar amps and was recorded in 1928 by Victor Records, but these recordings were never released. Many well known guitarists consider Snoozer to be one of the greatest, as he could harmonize, play leading melodies and bass rhythm simultaneously. He was also a connection in guitar history between country blues and early jazz soloists.
