Emmanuel Perez 1879-1946
Manuel Perez was one of the best leaders and teachers in the early brass bands. A native New Orleanian, he was a superb and sincere cornetist. In the 1890’s he joined the Onward Brass Band before forming the Imperial Orchestra, a popular parade and dance outfit. Manuel performed and later recorded in the late 1920s with the Charles Elgar’s Orchestra in Chicago.
