Blanche Thomas
Blanche Thomas began her singing career at the Tick Tock club, down the street from the Pelican where she waitressed in the French Quarter. This lead to her singing with Ray Charles at Club Basil, the Mardi Gras Lounge, and with the Six Brown Cats, working at clubs from Rampart through Bourbon Street. Blanche put out an album, “I am Blue” on the Nobility label featuring Albert French, Louis Barbarin, Joe “Cornbread” Thomas, Jeanette Kimball, Waldren “Frog” Joseph, and Frank Feilds. She later sang with the Heritage Hall Jazz Band and with Bill Bailey at Preservation Hall.
